We usually think of coastal places with views of seas and oceans like the Atlantic or Pacific when we think of the beach. It’s worth mentioning, though, that beaches aren’t usually found close to the country’s borders. There are various beaches on the inland rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. There are numerous magnificent beaches in and around Sydney’s inner-city region, including some of the city’s most distant locations. There’s no need to pull in the car and drive for hours if you live in or visit the inner region and want to go to the beach. Then maybe there is no need for you to guide to central Texas to fill your beach, more memorable.
Beaches Near Austin
1. Russell Park Beach
Just 50 minutes from downtown Austin, Russell Park offers a short and tranquil getaway. The pebble beach is rather extensive, with a nice swimming area and crystal-clear water. The lake is circumnavigated via a strenuous 26-mile hiking and biking path. There are 27 rustic campsites with screened shelters, 10 of which are well-maintained.
2. Hamilton Pool Preserve
From the parking lot to the natural bathing pool, Hamilton Pool is a 14-mile trip. From the limestone cliffs that encircle Hamilton Pool on all sides, a 50-foot waterfall pours. Take a guided trek to learn more about the geology and local animals of the region. The cost of admission is $12 per car if paid in advance and $8 per person if born at the event. Children under 12 are charged free to enjoy inside.
3. Pedernales Falls State Park
Pedernales Falls State Park, located 50 minutes outside of Austin on the banks of the Pedernales River, is a fantastic day trip from Austin. This massive 5,212-acre state park offers a wide range of activities, including hiking, biking, and camping. The Twin Falls Nature Trail is only 30 minutes long, but it takes you deep into the woods until you reach a hidden grotto with two waterfalls.
4. Milton Reimers Ranch Park
This wild wilderness sanctuary with beautiful swimming is located 40 minutes from downtown Austin on the banks of the Pedernales River. The riverfront beach stretches up into a 3- to 4-mile-long recreational area with shallow and deep areas.
However, in Milton Reimers Ranch Park, beautiful beaches are only the beginning. Rock climbing and mountain biking are everyday activities in the region and some of the most incredible hiking in the state. There are several kilometers to explore, with limestone cliffs, raging rivers, and panoramic Hill Country vistas.
Although reservations are necessary, there’s even an astronomical observatory with spectacular night sky views on the grounds.
5. Bob Wentz Park
Residents and visitors seeking adrenaline rushes go to Bob Wentz Park, a lovely basin along the Colorado River. The rocky terrain and high winds out on the ocean make it ideal for sailing and windsurfing. A day admission costs $5 per person, with children under 12 free.
6. McKinney Falls State Park
About 15 minutes from downtown Austin, McKinney Falls State Park boasts some of Austin’s most accessible beaches. Deer, armadillos, and a wealth of colorful bird species live in the park, and the vegetation is equally impressive. There are deep and shallow areas and locations where you may leap from the falls into the swimming hole below.
7. Sandy Creek Park
Sandy Creek Park, on the coast of Lake Travis in one of the lake’s quieter coves, is situated 30-40 minutes from downtown. A deep forest gives way to a stretch of beachfront that’s perfect for swimming and boating, while hiking trails along the water offer stunning views of the lake.
If you want to turn your trip to the beach in Austin into a weekend getaway, the park has 20 primitive camping spots that are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
8. Mustang Island State Park
Stretching over 100 miles along the Texas Gulf Coast, Mustang Island State Park offers some of the finest beach recreation in all of Texas.
Boasting over seven miles of pristine white sand beaches and the nation’s longest wooden fishing pier standing at 9,314 feet long makes Mustang Island a popular destination for anglers and beachgoers alike. Visitors can enjoy camping, swimming, surfing, kayaking, and fishing to their heart’s content while taking in the beauty of the Gulf of Mexico. The park is located about three miles north of Port Aransas on Highway 361. Entrance fee required.
