Established in 1996 after carefully rehabilitating the historic Kansas City-Mexico-Orient Railway depot, the museum has become a cornerstone of local heritage. Celebrating its silver anniversary in 2022, the museum kicked off the year with a proclamation at the San Angelo City Council on January 4, recognizing its 25 years of operation.
You’re invited to partake in the anniversary events that breathe life into railway history. On January 6, a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially launched the celebrations, followed by a day packed with engaging activities on January 8. Families enjoyed kid-sized motorized train rides and Living History tours, creating memorable visitor experiences. To accommodate the growing interest, the museum expanded its hours, welcoming you Thursday and Friday from 1-5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
