Texas is a relatively big state in the US, so it is already given that its cities and towns are big. The suburbs in Texas are also quite big, and because of their size, they have a lot of potential to grow in terms of population and economy. Out of the many suburbs in Texas, there are few that are considered to have faster growth compared to others. Here are the fastest-growing suburbs in Texas.

Frisco

Frisco is a city that is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in the northeast of Texas. In the 2020 US census, the population in Frisco is 200,509. Not only is Frisco one of the fastest-growing suburbs in Texas, but it has also been one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. In fact, Frisco was the fastest-growing city in the US in 2000, 2009, and 2017.

One of the reasons why Frisco is growing fast economically is because of its location, as the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is the economic and cultural hub of North Texas. The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has the fourth-largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the US. Fortune 500 companies are businesses that have ranked as the 500 largest companies in the United States based on total revenue fiscal years.

San Marcos

San Marcos is a city that serves as the county seat (administrative center) of Hays County, an area located in the central section of Texas. In the 2010 US census, the population of San Marcos was 44,894, although it grew to 67,553 in 2020. San Marcos is believed to be the oldest site in North America that is continuously inhabited, which basically means that groups of people have continued to live in San Marcos and never abandoned the area.

In 2013 and 2014, the US Census Bureau declared San Marcos to be the fastest-growing city in the country, and the city continues to grow as businesses in it are thriving financially. A reason why San Marcos is growing quickly is because of its accessibility, as it has its own regional airports, it is near major international airports in Texas, and it can be accessed through major roadways.

Georgetown

Georgetown is a famous city in Texas that serves as the county seat for Williamson Country in the central portion of the state. The population of Georgetown, as indicated in the 2020 US census, is 67,176. Georgetown was founded in 1875 by Southwestern University and three other colleges several years after a legislator and businessman named George Washington Glasscock donated the land that would eventually become Georgetown. Southwestern University, a private liberal arts college in the city, is considered the oldest university in Texas.

The reason why Georgetown is a fast-growing city is because of the many establishments or businesses that are operating within it, and these include St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, Airborn, Inc., Caring Home Health, and Southwestern University. However, the biggest contributor to the economic growth of Georgetown is Sun City Texas, an age-restricted community that has about 4700 acres of land and approximately 15,700 residents. The sheer size of the community allowed it to draw residents from different parts of the state, and because of the amenities and the comfort it provides to the residents, Sun City Texas remains one of the best communities in the state.

Conroe

Conroe is a city and the county seat of Montgomery County in the eastern portion of Texas. It is considered a principal city in the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area, which is the fifth-most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States, as it had a total population of 7,122,240 in 2020. In Conroe, the population is at 98,081 based on the 2021 US census. Between 2015 and 2016, Conroe was regarded by the US Census Bureau as the fastest-growing city in the United States.

Some of the contributors to the economic growth of Conroe are the companies and private establishments that employ locals in the area, and these companies include Tony Gullo Motors, Lowe’s, and Walmart. However, it is the government agencies in Conroe that employ a lot of locals. Some of these agencies are the Conroe Independent School District and the Conroe Regional Medical Center. Conroe is also a popular tourist destination in Texas, as it has a variety of tourist spots and attractions to offer, including the Crighton Theatre, the Owen Theatre, the Montgomery County Heritage Museum, and The Lone Star Monument.

Cedar Park

Cedar Park is a city and a suburb of Austin, the capital city of Texas. In the 2020 US census, the population of Cedar Park was 77,595. Because of how near it is to Austin, Cedar Park’s economy and growth are influenced by the population and the popularity of Austin.

Despite relying heavily on Austin, Cedar Park has a booming tourism industry, as they have plenty of tourist spots to offer, like the Brushy Creek Lake Park, the Austin Steam Train Association Museum, and the H-E-B Center at Center Park, where the Texas Stars (American Hockey League) and the Austin Spurs (NBA G League) play.

These are five of the fastest-growing suburbs in Texas. It is possible that these cities or suburbs will continue to grow in the future as their population keeps increasing and their economy continues thriving. You should visit the cities we have mentioned above so that you will have a much better idea of how different these cities are compared to most that are found in the United States.
