Victory Park – In the Heart of Dallas

views

Victory Park is a master-planned development site located northwest of downtown Dallas, just along Interstate 35E. It is a $3 billion project that spans over 75 acres of land, and it is home to the American Airlines Center, One Victory Park, Plaza Towers, and the Peron Museum of Nature and Science. In this article, we will know more about the history of Victory Park and the places you should check out while you’re there.

History

Victory Park was established by the son of billionaire tycoon, Ross Perot, Ross Perot, Jr. They also happen to be one of the major owners of the Dallas Mavericks NBA basketball team. According to interviews, Perot said that he envisioned Victory Park as an urban lifestyle destination. The project was headlined by the American Airlines Center’s construction, which happens to be the home of the Dallas Mavericks. The entire Victory Park was planned to the very last detail by its developers.

However, the development of Victory Park has been criticized for having enormous video screens, high-end chain stores, expensive restaurants, a sports arena, along with an enormous parking space to the point where it looked like the crazy dream of some power-hungry capitalist. But, other journalists have contradicted this criticism and say that developments such as Victory Park are built on a classic and centuries-old formula in order to create feasible and lasting community destinations.

Things to Do at Victory Park

  • Explore The Perot Museum Of Nature And Science
If you are looking for some fun and educational family activities in Victory Park, then the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is the only place to go. This museum is the best place to spark your children’s curiosity while letting them associate learning with fun. Aside from the regular museum displays, there are also interactive exhibits and activity stations that you can explore.
  • Enjoy Some Music and Good Foot at the House Of Blues
Several concert venues are scattered all over Dallas, but what makes the House of Blues in Victory Park unique is its location. It is situated in the White Swan Building, which was built about a century ago. If you are a music lover, then the House of Blues is a must-see destination whenever you’re in downtown Dallas because it is usually the venue where most popular music artists perform.
Rocking out and even singing along can get pretty tiring, so the House of Blues also offers some of the tastiest Southern dishes, such as fried chicken, jambalaya, and baby-back ribs. It doesn’t matter whether you are trying to catch your favorite artist, want to drink some cocktails, enjoy some good food, or simply listen to good music, the House of Blues is always the perfect place to unwind.
  • Tour Around the Sweet Tooth Hotel
One of the most hyped attractions here in the Victory Park neighborhood is the Sweet Tooth Hotel. It is not exactly a hotel but rather a museum that is filled with different kinds of artwork that looks like and symbolizes desserts. The attraction offers a different type of experience. That is why it has quickly become one of the main tourist attractions in downtown Dallas. Aside from the fantastic artworks, it is also a great place to sneak a selfie.
  • Enjoy Watching Films at the Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas
At this day and age, we all know that it’s easier to sit on your couch and select something to watch on Netflix. However, trust us when we say that it is still a lot different when you see a movie at the cinemas. If you happen to be in Victory Park, do not forget to drop by Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas to bring back the feeling of really going to the movies.
