Texas Ratifies Proposed Federal Equal Rights Amendment

Texas ratified the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, becoming an early state to support a national constitutional guarantee of equality regardless of sex. The federal amendment was not ultimately adopted.
