Reunion District – History and Atrractions

views

Reunion District or formerly known as La Reunion, is an area located in downtown Dallas, Texas. It is known for its two significant landmarks, namely the Reunion Tower and Hyatt Regency Dallas. The Reunion or La Reunion is named by the French colonists that occupied the area during the mid-1800s. Most of the Reunion District is centrally located near shopping, sports, arts, entertainment, and business districts in Dallas. This district was created to help Dallas’ economy and bring in new residents and businesses. The development was led by a company owned by Ray Hunt, a wealthy oil tycoon, and real estate investor. Hunt’s company, was the first investors in the hotel and tower that soon made the Reunion District.

During the 1980s, a real estate bust happened, which halted further investments into the Reunion District, and it left the area with few sources of revenue. Through the last two decades, the Reunion District was left undeveloped, and the soaring economy of the area has come to a stand-still. In 2005, the city of Dallas decided to make plans and restore the vitality of the Reunion District in 2005.

Visit the Reunion Tower – The iconic Reunion Tower is the heart of the Reunion District. It is a very recognizable landmark because it stands 500 feet tall. The Reunion Tower offers locals and amazing tourist views of the Dallas skyline, which can be seen from the deck of the tower, and since 1978, the viewing deck has been one of the most frequently visited parts of the tower. Not only that, but the Reunion Tower also has other parts where you can relax and eat while enjoying the view of the Dallas skyline.

Experience the Hyatt Regency Hotel – This hotel is considered one of the Reunion District’s anchors. It is located on Reunion Boulevard and has been one of the neighborhood’s essential parts for several years. Inside the hotel, you will see large floor-to-ceiling windows and marble floors. If you are planning to stay here in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, you can choose from several suites or rooms and different amenities such as a pool, wet bar, high-speed internet access, room service, and friendly concierge services. You will never have to worry about picking out your room or suite because every room at the Hyatt Regency Hotel gives you a bright and beautiful view of the Dallas skyline. Aside from that, the hotel is also adjacent to the Reunion Tower.

Experience first-class dining experience at Five Sixty – The Five Sixty is a fine dining restaurant that is owned by a celebrity chef named Wolfgang Puck. This is a unique restaurant because it is a revolving restaurant situated in Reunion Tower’s revolving top level.

Witness the stunning Ball at Night – The BallBall is located at the Reunion Tower’s top, and it is equipped with over 259 custom LED light fixtures. The BallBall lights up the sky every night, and it gives off an almost endless selection of colors, patterns, and other fantastic light shows that can be seen every night for all year long.

Witness the Amazing View of Dallas During the Night – Sometimes, timing is everything, especially if we want to experience something special when we travel. This is the case when you visit the Reunion Tower. One piece of advice that we can give you is that you should get the Day and Night ticket so that you will have a chance to witness the sunset over the Dallas City horizon and see how magnificent the city lights slowly light up the sky. Do not get us wrong; the Dallas skyline view in the daytime is impressive, too. But it would be an even more magical experience if you get to see it at night. That is why we suggest that you get yourself a Dallas CityPASS so that you can explore Dallas’s best attractions, including the GeO-Deck at the Reunion Tower.
