History

The history of Trophy Club dates back to 1847 when Matilda and Charles Medlin and twenty other families decided to leave Missouri and settle along Denton Creek in Elizabethtown, Texas. However, the area had flooding issues, that is why the families decided to move to higher ground, which is now known as the location of the present-day Trophy Club. Most of the early history of Trophy Club came from the Texas and Pacific Railroad. This is because Trophy Club experienced growth when the track was land through the area back in 1881.

Fast forward to the 1970s, the vision of Trophy Club started when John McMackin of Fort Worth law firm convinced the then-retired Ben Hogan to design a golf course with a two-story clubhouse. In 1972, they began to make the vision come true by purchasing 2,500 for the project. A year later, developers, Johnsons-Loggins, came up to the Westlake City Council about building a housing development around a first-class golf course.

In 1977, the real estate development for Trophy Club consisted of a community swimming pool, an 18-hole golf course, a clubhouse, and tennis courts. The plan for Trophy Club was perfect. However, Ben Hogan decided to withdrew his support after he did not receive any financing to build a two-story clubhouse, which was part of the plan from the start. In fact, Trophy Club’s name was derived from the vision that the country club would be the house of Hogan’s PGA trophy collection.

After 20 years, the population of Trophy Club continued to grow in population, that is why the developers decided to begin the development of the remaining 1250 acres of the town. They also built Medlin Middle School and Beck Elementary School. Aside from this, they also made the Clock Tower and officially opened the Harmony Park.

In the 2000s, the Trophy Club became known to have several parks such as the Independence Park, Marshall Creek Park, Trophy Club Park, and Freedom Dog Park. They also opened the Trophy Club Plaza Shopping Center during this time.

Parks and Recreation in Trophy Club

• Independence Park – This park offers several outdoor activities suitable for different age groups such as swimming, basketball, splash pads, and baseball fields.
• Harmony Park – This park has a state-of-the-art electronic play system that allows both kids and adults to engage in exercising outdoors by using three different gaming systems, namely NEOS Wall, NEOS Ring, and NEOS 360. Aside from this, Harmony Park also has three lighted soccer fields, tennis courts, and a large pavilion that can be reserved for parties.
• Freedom Dog Park – This park is located near the Trophy Club Park, and it offers separate fenced areas for both small and large dogs. This dog park also has doggie water fountain areas, shaded pavilions, wash areas, a canine area.
